With the end of my company fiscal year approaching i found out i had some time off that was use or lose. Since i had the time off and the space weather has been good i figured why not knock out a few parks towards the activated all SC award. I have a personal goal to activate all of SC by the end of the year so RaDAR is the way to do it. With a little planning and knowing my schedule for the day I figured I could get 9 parks before the xyl got off work. So the plan was drop her at work at 0500am or 0900 utc. My park path was as follows, K-9202, K-9208, K-3908, K-0524, K-3903, K-9217, K-3850, K-2907, K-2900. I knew i needed to leave Hunnington Beach State park by noon to get back to the creek. Well as most of you know you create a plan and always create a backup plan for when the plan fails. I didn’t. I finished at K-3850 and saw the clock said 11:09am and time to K-2907 was about an hour. So i figured 7 parks not a bad run. I could always get the state parks later in the year. Then I get a text saying the xyl would be staying late (my saving grace) so on to Myrtle Beach state park 10 contacts in 10 min pack up and down to Huntington beach for another 10 contacts. I know I should get more in the event i have a busted call but time was pressing and i was connected to the internet so I knew the calls were valid. As i was packing up at Huntington beach i looked at the POTA awards and realized the Leopard was 10 parks not 9. Hmm well K-9203/K-4522 is on the way home. I got this. As i hit Jamestown my phone rings…. Its the XYL “you can head this way we are almost done.” So ok guess I’ll get out later and activate. She had other plans. So ok happy wife happy life. Well she had to be back at work at 0500am and the gear was still in the car. Drop her off and head over to K-3873 Colonial Dorchester 10 contacts before my 24 hour clock hit. So i covered 10 parks in 24 hours.
