Have been looking for an HF Transceiver that would give me a couple possibilities. I wanted a rig that would work at home, but without taking up a lot of space, and one that I could quickly grab and head outside with. One that was lightweight and small that would fit into a backpack.
The Xiegu G90 checked off a lot of the boxes of what I was looking for. Small, 10×6 inch, lightweight, 2 lb, features that a large machine has, but in a small package. Base and portable applications, and reasonably priced.
With the G90, I am able to carry less, as the radio is already equipped with features that is great for less expenditures. Built in antenna tuner and filters. It is a 20W portable SDR. SSB/CW/Am working modes. The 24k bandwidth spectrum display, waterfall display are also great addons.
I purchased the tilt stand with fan for better viewing and to keep the unit cool. With it coming with Anderson power poles already attached, that was a nice bonus. A quick click and it all integrated together.
The small 12V8AH battery with a built in BMS and a fully automatic smart charger. A 66-foot End Fed long line antenna with a 49:1 balun and 40-foot coax, finishes off the rig. All nicely packed into one backpack.
The initial set up here in the house went better that I had expected. Sat and listened to a couple foreign radio stations and many DX stations. I may need to learn a couple foreign languages.
For an all in one, small, lightweight and portable, The G90 is a prefect fit.
73 and all have fun, inside and out.
